Who We Are:
Miles Stone, Founder/Owner
Some would say I am obsesed with everything motorcycle. Over 25 years ago, to the disapproval of my mother, I pushed home my first bike: a 1972 Honda CB125s. A friend helped me rebuild the motor, I moved out of my parent's house, and my life with motorcycles began. As a financially strapped young man I found forgotten bikes, moved them into my kitchen or bedroom and brought them back to life. As I made more money I bought nicer bikes but still rebuilt and maintained them, as well as my friends' bikes, just because I loved doing it. I logged many miles across this country and others on a variety of bikes. The experienced riders, mechanics, and shop owners that I have known over the years have helped me follow my dreams on a motorcycle. Now I realize that being a part of the motorcycling community means giving back. Austin Moto Academy gives me the chance to share not only my knowledge, but my passion for bikes as well. So to all the newest members of our community out there I say "Welcome" and let me help you learn and appreciate why Austin Moto Academy has the motto: RIDE WITH SAFETY AND WISDOM.

From dirt to street, motocross to cruisers, I can't get enough of this two-wheeled stuff. Riding and living the dream is something everyone should be able to enjoy. People have asked me, what is it about riding that is so different from other vehicles, my answer is simple, if you have to ask, you wouldn't understand. Until you get out on the open road and feel the wind, see the views that you just don't get in a car, enjoy the brotherhood of other motorcycle enthusiasts and the miles of smiles, words just don't do it justice Whether you are destined for the open road or looking to navigate the urban jungle, there isn't a better way to enjoy the journey. As you can tell, my passion is riding. I have been riding since I was old enough to stand and I haven't looked back since. I have had some great teachers over the years and I enjoy passing on the techniques of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's proven course. I didn't stop there, I am very involved with group riding through a local Harley Owners Group and I am one of the Rider Coaches that teaches the Advanced Riders Course. Safety and proper technique allows you to enjoy the passion and gives you the foundation to become a skilled rider in both slow and high-speed maneuvers. Riding is more then means to get from A to B, it is an experience like no other, come and see the world on two wheels as I do and live the dream.

I am passionate about motorcycles and safety! I came from a dirt bike background, so it was important for me to learn street bike safety in order to embrace the full scope of this sport, hobby, and my own obsession. When I took the Riders Edge course from Harley Davidson, I was so impressed with the training, information, and experience that I knew it was my destiny to become a Ridercoach. Two wheels have been, and will always be, a part of my life. Once the motorcycling adventure starts the adrenaline explosion in your blood, you can't turn it off!
I get such freedom from the open road, the sounds, the smells, and I especially enjoy the true friendship and camaraderie that I have found in the people who share the same passion for motorcycles. Teaching new riders the MSF proven techniques gives me satisfaction, not only in knowing that I am keeping drivers safe, but also because I want to share the love I have for the sport. I am very involved in the CTHOG chapter and I ride about 6,000 to 8000 miles per year on my own bike. So come on down and let the Austin Moto Academy help you live your dream of riding a motorcycle and keeping your “shiny side” up!!!

When I was an infant, my outlaw uncle placed me on his Harley Davidson. I can still recall the look of horror on my mother's face as I leaned on that vibrating tank. The lure of glowing chrome and the soothing rhythmic rumble made a lasting impression on me. I had to wait 25 years to turn my "born to be bad" destiny into a reality, but it was definitely worth the wait. Many of the best times of my life have involved motorcycling. I know of nothing more relaxing than simply getting out of town and exploring the hill country on 2 wheels. The ever changing views, smells of cut grasses, and pulsing power of the bike beneath you- it's something you have to experience to truly appreciate. Being a rider coach allows me to help others realize their own 2-wheeled destinies in a setting that is as enjoyable as it is challenging and rewarding.
